What does ‘detox’ or cleansing mean?

We all know we live in a world that really has some pretty unhealthy environmental effects on us.  From the air we breathe, our water, the food we eat, we’re bombarded daily with toxins. So what can we do? We have to eat.  It’s not always easy or possible for us to ‘grow our own food’. And let’s face it; we’re busy.

Since we’re all human we are going to be affected by our indiscretions; the not so healthy choices we make.  So it’s a pretty good idea to give our bodies a rest once in awhile and let them reset. It’s been said that doing so ‘will help to increase your energy levels, balance your hormones, improve digestion, give your adrenals a much needed break, help break cravings and make you feel joyous all over’. Sounds pretty convincing to me… So what else can you expect from detoxing?

Here are 5 benefits you’ll experience from doing a deep (detox) cleanse

1. Increase energy

We do tax our bodies in ways that aren’t really that good for us; alcohol, sugar and processed foods all contribute to putting our bodies into over drive.  In a nutshell we eat and drink way more than our bodies are capable of handling – now if it were just once in awhile maybe they’d be able to keep up.  But we add these stimulants to our bodies day after day, week after week, year after year.  It’s no wonder our internal organs need a break and reboot. That’s the purpose and intent of a nutritional cleanse. The results? Increased energy. The action of cleansing and purifying the body helps to release stagnation and toxins; making room for revitalized energy.

2. Increase your vibrational frequency

MY WHAT you may ask? Antoine Bovis, in the 1930’s discovered energy levels in everything and developed a way of measuring it. Physics proves that everything has a vibration frequency; including us humans. We all have a different ‘vibrational frequency’ depending on our emotions, our attitude, and our health, So if our bodies aren’t in a very good ‘health state’, it’s safe to say we aren’t functioning on a very high frequency. Filling our bodies with unhealthy choices lowers our vibrational frequency which in time allows ailments and injuries a door to invade.

But on the contrary, when we do a nutritional cleansing we are giving our bodies a chance to improve itself and its vibrational frequency.  It’s not at all uncommon to feel really energized and clear on deep cleanse days.

Since we operate on a specific frequency which is also dependent on what we eat, If we load up on wholesome organic food, which some consider has a high vibration frequency, we’ll raise ours. The best food to look for? A good place to start is with fresh natural foods with a very short time from garden to table. Pretty cool isn’t it?

3. Decrease Stress

Poor nutrition adds to our emotional being too.  Think about it… emotions like anxiety, anger, stress and fear that we keep bottled up inside aren’t healthy for us. We’ve all heard that when we don’t deal with these emotions they start to build up day after day, year after year. They will start to manifest themselves into our physical body.  They’ll start to surface as those aches and pains, high blood pressure, even more serious illnesses. Learning how to release these emotions through proper nutrition, exercise and even meditation can have a healthy effect on our bodies too.

For centuries, many people have detoxed, more commonly known as fasting to feel more alive, awake, and aware. Adding some gentle yoga, deep breathing, walking in nature and practicing stillness also all contribute to helping the body release toxic energy, creating space to connect with your higher self. Making life all that much more richer…

4. Clear your ‘fog’

Before I started nutritional cleansing I really was in a fog.  Don’t laugh… it wasn’t until I started this program that I started to feel the fog lift.  With proper nutrition and regular exercise we clear our mind giving it more chance to focus and think clearer. Often times you’ll find new ideas just start to pop into your head, or a situation can be understood from a new and deeper perspective. What a perfect time to create a vision board and do some deep reflective thinking on your own personal development.

5. Improves your immune system

Cleansing involves giving the body (especially the liver) a break from digestion. While the primary reason most people add intermittent fasting to their diets is for weight loss or maintenance. There are other benefits as well, When you detox the body you free up your internal organs to function the way they should. This helps to give your immune system a boost since you’ll be able to absorb nutrients better, including Vitamin C. Many of the herbs you take while on a detox will help the lymphatic system, which plays a big role in keeping you healthy and firing on all cylinders. Many detox programs also focus on light exercises which help to circulate lymph fluid through the body and helps it to drain, strengthening your immune system in the process.
